The Speaking program is geared towards upper-intermediate and advanced
students. The aim of this program is to assist students in improving their English communication skills in terms of clarity, organization, and expression. In class, students will begin with a basic Presentation-making exercise where they will make a short speech about a topic of their choice. The students will be given 10-15 minutes to prepare and brainstorm their presentation with keywords and expressions, but not full sentences or paragraphs. The students will take their brainstorm plan and organize the structure/content of the speech (Introduction, Body, Conclusion), but actual sentences will depend solely on the students' English speaking ability. This speech is recorded on the computer and played back to the students as the teacher corrects the speech in terms of expression, organization, fluency, grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure, pronunciation, and a variety of other helpful hints. All speeches will be saved to a CD at the end of the students' program to allow the students' to review their progress. This program will greatly improve a students' fluency and precision of speech, as well as help students' improve their ability to speak under pressure to an audience.
