Listening Level I Program

This program is for beginner students. The weekly outline of this program is as follows:

Monday: level I students listen to selected audio monologues and stories. This class is designed to increase comprehension of the spoken story. Students spend ample time learning new vocabulary, listening to the stories and discussing what they heard. Students answer true or false questions, fill in the blanks and short answers to assist them in the learning process.

Tuesday: level I students listen to selected dialogues presentations. This class is intended to give students the opportunity to improve their skills at listening to multiple speakers. The dialogues expose students to a variety of speaking speed and pronunciation. Multiple choice questions, short answers and fill in the blanks are used to test students and provide material to gain full comprehension of the stories.

Wednesday: level I students listen to selected audio documentaries. These documentaries are great tools for students who want to increase their comprehension of the spoken story. Students are encouraged to talk about what they heard and are asked questions relating to vocabulary and pronunciation. Students answer true or false and short questions as well as fill in blank words from a transcription section to further their understanding of the story.

Thursday: level I students listen to selected audio dialogues combined with a TOEIC style exercise. This class is designed to give students the opportunity to improve their listening skills for the TOEIC exam. Students answer multiple choice and short questions based on the material and a fill in the blanks section is used for further comprehension of the story.

Friday: level I students listen to selected audio news. Audio news exposes students to clear pronunciation, local idioms and news vocabulary. Students answer true or false and short questions based on the news.
